WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, WHY, AND HOW A Re-organization. The period at the end of that last sentence means this will happen, this is final, I will stick to my guns, I will do it… maybe. Life is full of information, and in this day and age, that information is bombarding us at an ever expanding rate, from every conceivable direction. We naively think that technology makes life easier. It hasn’t proved itself to me yet, so this, this right here, this Blog your looking at is my Case Study. It is my attempt at “Technology making life easier.”
I am adding categories, such as Investing, Trading, Real Estate, and BookNotes among others in a goal of creating a written record of the topics I am vigorously studying, much like a notebook in College (or Uni for that part of the world, thats updside down.) with intentions of being able to reference and access my information in an organized manner from any where there is an internet connection.
I have notebook after notebook, and heaps of scrap paper lying around with little tid-bits of information scattered carelessly about my personal belongings. This blog will be the catchall, the start of my technology enhanced-meta-information-retention system. Much like any good computing system needs a good off-site backup storage location in the event of an emergency, the information is saved, for future use. This blog will do just that, serving the same purpose for me and to generation(s) hereafter.
Animals pass learned behavouir on to their offspring through a short bonding period between parent and spawn by demonstrating an action or technique that was subsequently passed to them. The lack of written language, means information loss with every generation.
Humans however have ever increased the pace, breadth, and depth of knowledge we can obtain throughout history. First through verbal language we were able to pass information on to younger generations only limted by the memory capacity of the indiviudals responsible for carrying the message. However it was easily diluted, as each messenger carrying the message, adapted, forgot, or added their own twist.
Soon enough written language allowed us to retain much more information than the human brain could keep track of, however it was slow and cumbersome. Today we have the internet, with massive world-wide communities ingesting, organizing, and providing more information that we could ever imagine. The problem has come full circle back to the human brain. We no longer need to retain all of the information, just how to find and process the information. But we are starting to reach the limits of our own processing power. As we are bombared with fragments of information from every angle, we are bogged down by the very advantages and information that had set us apart from other species in the first place.
So the question remains, in this age of information, can we adapt ourselves even further, to increase our capacity for digesting the massive amounts of information we have at our fingertips? Will we take another evolutionary step forward, and increase the efficiency in which we mange, and process this information? Or will we stagnate, will we be relegated to the likes of animals… at the bounds of our mental capacity. I for one hope we will continue to find new ways to evolve, and this website is my experiment, my contribution to the man-kinds struggle, of organizing the oceans of information we must wade through everyday.
