The Contract

Over the 4th of July weekend, I was the best man in my best friends wedding.

I already had my hands full, planning one drunken night of debauchery, and two days of fun in the sun back home. I didn’t want to have to deal with all the new responsibilities of purchasing a house on top of it all. I now had to schedule an inspection, finalize financing, find a lawyer, figure out insurance, and negotiate a few outstanding issues the sellers had changed after I signed the contract! Something I thought was illegal, they changed the closing date, the mortgage contingency date, as well as a number of other pretty hefty contractual items, according to my lawyer this is not illegal, just another counter offer. Oh well you live and learn…
